Childhood Fears

This is my final project for Mike Azevedo's Digital Painting Fundamentals course. I took inspiration from Simon Stalenhag's work.

The scenery is taken from the river that passes in front of my parents house in Brazil's countryside. My mom frequently showed me the river when I was little to the point that my first word was "água". Portuguese for water.

The giant robot thing is an homage to an 80's brazillian character named "Fofão" which translates to Big Cute I guess hahaha. To me as a little kid, Fofão was everything but cute and even painting him weirded me out most of the way.
